A good day of highlights
, Our trip to Hanoi, that we must see Halong Bay. Since we didn't have a lot of time, we chose the day cruise.
Our guide was Benjamin. He was energetic and funny and very informative.
The ride to the bay, and back was very long, but I expected it, so it wasn't too bad. I found it very interesting, seeing the Vietnamese countryside.
Halong Bay is truly a must see! We went to Heaven cave, and I have never seen anything like it before! Spectacular! Kayaking in the bay was also just wonderful!

Was in Hanoi for business and decided a day trip to Halong Bay during the weekend. After a stressful and busy work week, this trip was awesome. Totally relaxed.
Had a friend booked for us. Day start with a private transport picking us at hotel. It took about 4 hours with a stop in the middle for food, stretching and souvenir shopping. Reached Halong Bay marina and we had lunch on the boat before departing.
Go up to the deck and enjoy your cruise to Halong Bay, welcoming you with an awesome scenic view of limestone hills. First stop you could choose a ride on small boat or Kayak. Take the boat if you have family and the boat lady will take you around and caves. If you choose kayak then you get some exercise. Follow the boats to go to some caves. Might get a little wet.
Second stop some stairs trekking thru the limestone cave. You had to hike up in order to enter the cave.
These were the 2 main spots for a day trip to Halong Bay. There are many other areas but you would need 2 or 3 days tour. Will definitely be back for that.
For a day trip, you can travel light. You can take a spare set of clothes just in case but would be fine without as well.
Apart from the long ride to get there from Hanoi city, this is worth the trip. Highly recommended!!!!

We book a one day cruise from Halong Bay One Day. If you come to Hanoi for a holiday, Halong Bay is always the highlight of the trip. The transport will pick you from your hotel around 8.30 am but if you do not stay at the areas around their pick rs up points, you may have to fond yoesur own transport to the meeting place. It took about 4 hours with a rest stop of 25 minutes for toilet, coffee or shopping. The mini coach is very comfortable and a bottle of mineral water given each. There isa tour guide and he is very helful and humourous. The seafoodlunch in the cruise is very fresh. You are given first drink free and allowed a choice of beer, soft drink or mineral water , after which you have to pay for extra drink. We were given 2 options which is included in the one day package. Kayaking or bamboo raft. In bamboo raft, you just sit back and enjoy as there is a paddler provided and allowed up to 4 persons. In kayaking , only 2 persons allowed in a kayak and given half hour only. We choose the kayaking , refer to my photos. Another 4 hours back to city and reach around 8.30 to 9.00 pm depending on traffic.

This is the best company for organising tours in Asia. We have used them six times now and everything has been absolutely faultless. From street food tours to the more extensive Halong Bay they are superb. We took a tour to Halong Bay and there were only four of us. Us English and two Aussies. The mix was great and our guide, Phuong Nguyen, probably the best we have ever had. His English is fantastic and he had to put up with Aussie English banter which he did wonderfully. We learnt so much on the trip and the driver got us there and back safely. We had the boat to ourselves and the food was excellent. Phong even took us to to caves which were spectacular and explained all about the region and its long history. These guys were first class, five stars and well deserved. Very very enjoyable
